The Spring Ride was instigated in 2007 by Dwight and Pat Harris to get the riding season off to a good start and to polish up rusty riding skills. It was a chance to renew acquaintances with fellow Club Members and socialize over dinner after the winter hiatus.
A highlight of this Ride was a group photo of all the riders in front of our banner and individual keepsake photos presented to each rider. Initially all the individual photos were posted on a back board on the Clubhouse wall during the year’s riding season.
Over the years, The Spring Ride has continued to be the event that starts the riding season off for us.

Event Comments: 2026 GVMC Spring Run Report
May 3, 2026 Report We had a gorgeous sunny day perhaps a little too gorgeous as the heat got to some people. We had 12 bikes, 1 passenger, 1 donation, and 4 for dinner attending the Run. So 18 people participated in the Run.
The Route Sheet was 5 addresses for 5 destinations: Lulu Island Winery, Trail Head Forest, Philip Jackman Park, Kilby Historic Site, BC Hydro Powerhouse with a question to answer at each destination along with a checker and a mileage guess.
It was good to see some new faces at the Run. Mike Dodd from Eagle Wings formerly Gold Wing Riders came again. Our beloved Jim Brooke's son-in-law Ryan Neufeld, June Olson from Chilliwack Harley Riders and Dean Siagris who also won the event.
Winners: 1st Place - Dean Siagris 2nd Place - June Olson 3rd Place - Dwight Harris Thank you to all the helpers: Cheryl and Gerry Acton for kitchen and food prep, cleaning tables and barbecuing. Virginia Billing for helping with dishes and cleaning up. Vern Billing for setting up for the photos. Harold Fink for taking the photos. John Taylor for manning the Checkpoint. Our newest applicant Vladimir Komkov for helping with the morning set up and clean up at the end of the day. Jim Sloat for making up the Route Sheet, setting up the tables and the Rider's Meeting. Jackie Heppler for signup, advertising, shopping, cooking and kitchen cleanup. Without all the helpers this Run wouldn't happen.
We couldn't have asked for a better day (except maybe a bit cooler) so hopefully next year the Spring Run will get more participation.
